Galleri Cancer - Screening Test

What is The Galleri Cancer Screening Test?

The Galleri test is a prescription blood test developed by GRAIL that screens for 50+ types of cancer using a single blood draw.

It does not diagnose cancer. Instead, it looks for cancer-associated DNA signals in the bloodstream. If a signal is detected, further diagnostic testing is recommended to determine whether cancer is present.

This test is intended to be used alongside routine screenings (such as mammograms and colonoscopies) — not as a replacement.

The Galleri test is generally recommended for adults 50 and older, or individuals at increased risk for cancer.

How Does The Galleri Cancer Screening Test Work?

Cancer cells release tiny fragments of DNA into the bloodstream, known as cell-free DNA (cfDNA). The Galleri test analyzes unique methylation patterns in this DNA that may indicate a cancer signal.

If a signal is detected, the test can also predict the Cancer Signal Origin (CSO) — the most likely tissue or organ where the signal began. This helps guide more focused follow-up testing.

Results are typically available within 2–4 weeks.

You will receive one of two results: No Cancer Signal Detected or Cancer Signal Detected (with predicted origin)

A “Cancer Signal Detected” result does not confirm cancer — it means further evaluation is recommended.
A “No Signal Detected” result does not guarantee the absence of cancer.
